Back to School for First Time College Students

August 13, 2015

It’s your first time away at college. You’ve signed up for classes and are fully prepared for the new semester. Life is new and exciting!

  • New Clothes                        $   300
  • Text Books                          $   400
  • Apple MacBook                   $   900

You survive your first week of classes. It’s the weekend and it’s time to Party!

Your roommate invites some rowdies who make your party the stuff of campus legend. The next morning you wake to find your new shirt has BBQ sauce on it, your stack of text books is sticky and smells like beer, and your MacBook is nowhere to be found. On top of that, there’s someone you don’t recognize in your bathtub moaning about a broken wrist.

Did you know that your landlord’s insurance won’t cover any of that?

  • Renter’s Insurance          Priceless

Renter’s insurance covers your personal articles for theft or damage whether they are in your apartment or not. It will also cover medical if someone gets hurt in your apartment due to your actions.  A decent Renter’s Policy can provide $300,000 in Personal Liability (guy in the bathtub) and $25,000 in Personal Property (clothes, books, MacBook) for less than $200 a year.

Part of being out on your own is learning to look ahead and prepare for the future.  Renter’s Insurance is one way to do that.
